A lot of games include campaign systems as is... how should we handle that?

These are just optional bolt on systems that would suit most games , you don't have to use them if you don't like them, or if you just like one bit you'd just use that, If players like the other campaign system from the ruleset they're using, then itsup to them. I was thinking of a campaign rules that is specifically ours, with hooks, links to scenario creation and details specific to our setting. I would like to think we can invent several alternative mechanisms to the whole campaign rules, or better still more detailed ways of adding to them with standalone bolt ons.

I think that might be our best niche... if you look at most game's campaign rules they are pretty bare bones. Take 5150 SA for example. Its a great campaign system for running a platoon through a war but you don't get any information about the war, why its being fought, etc. You basically just get who is fighting and who is winning. We can make our campaign system something much more narratively interesting by using the fact that we're working with a specific setting to our advantage.

Thats what I had in mind, when i play I like to go for linked games, but most games are pretty sparse on decent campaign rules, I tend to invent more detailed options home brew style for realistic and entertaining between game stuff.
As we are not actually making a ruleset, the campaign and scenario basis of this project appeals to me, so we can concentrate on some nice fluff based options that seem missing from a lot of wargames in general.
My next post will detail the bare bones idea I have so far, its quite a simple method I think, the true difficulty comes from expanding it further....!!
